ICEMAN THE NICE MAN!
Name: Iceman
Born: Bay Land (Better known as
Bayville) Barbados
Age: Old but not cold!
Star Sign: One of 12!!!

DJ Iceman is the awesome DJ behind Rampage Carnival Club. Born and bred in Barbados, he is one of the worlds top
soca DJ's. He brings a fresh flavour of the Caribbean to the club. Always ahead with the latest
soca tunes and guaranteed to be on the line up of DJ's for any major soca event.
Being born in Barbados meant that it was only natural for him to be interested in Soca Music. His first experiences of performing as a DJ started when he began toasting at Street Fairs and parties. The DJ side of reggae was popular in the 80’s and his then idol was Yellowman.
Local DJs wanted to identify with Yellowman and used names like Rocoman and Fatman. He wanted to call himself a name that stood out from the rest, and chose a name to describe his personality, COOL! Hence the name ICEMAN.
His first big break was as the opening act for Super Cat at a concert in Barbados. He realised then, that his talents extended to playing music, and started up a sound system with a couple of friends, playing all kinds of music at Graduation parties, Weddings, fairs and fetes – you name it they played everywhere.
When he arrived in England, he was determined to put Soca music on the
map. Realising that there was no soca on commercial radio or fetes in the
Three Counties; Iceman set about filling the gap in the market. The gap was huge, but he filled it! He soon created a following in Bedfordshire playing regularly on radio and in nightclubs to a crowd who had been crying out for Soca music!
Soca Music is so versatile; it is now being mixed with Ragga, Rap, R ‘n’ B and POP. His ultimate goal is to see it take it's rightful place alongside Reggae and R ‘n’ B as a recognised art form at the Grammy and MOBO awards!
In the meantime, Iceman De Nicman will continue to promote the best and latest Soca sounds at every opportunity. His intention is to put Soca on the map, right into mainstream music so that it can be enjoyed by as many people as
possible!!
You can catch him at Soca fetes in London!
If however you can't get to any of the fetes you can tune into his
two hour show of Soca music on

Final word from Iceman:
"My aim is to promote all genres of music from the
Caribbean with the main focus on Soca music. I will do what I can to help
stamp out piracy and remind people why they should purchase originals and
leave out the bootleg stuff because its hurting the music industry
worldwide. Its time we have a category on the Grammys and Mobo Awards for
Soca Music, its long overdue".
