Each year Rampage displays a different array of costumes. The costumes reflect the theme for that year. Colin Spalding will normally come with a theme each year. Themes can range from Outer Space to Egypt. His reasoning is simple: "...I think of an idea, then see how that would portray onto the road, the colours have to co-ordinate and complement not only the costumes but each other".

When Africa was the theme, different shades of green, brown, orange and yellow were used. Costumes varied from Basket Carriers to African Warriors. Striped ribbons were used to make grass skirts. Ribbons were wrapped tightly around strips of Pine to make the baskets. The end result was a vibrant display of colours, art and craftsmanship.
